In Europe, 70% of the visually impaired population is currently unemployed. However, the vast majority of young VIPs have unrestricted access to the internet and digital tools. The “Vip-Tech-Job: Time 2 Act 2 Act project” aims to create innovative digital solutions to help young VIPs find employment. The partnership, which includes partners from Belgium, VIEWS International, Greece ,Dafni KEK, Italy, Aforisma, and Spain, FDO, intends to develop new products in order to ease the access of visually impaired persons to employment.
The project “Vip-Tech-Job: Time 2 Act!” aims to assist visually impaired young people in finding job opportunities. The project’s overall, long-term goal is to increase the number of young employed VIPs across Europe. It seeks to foster their active citizenship as well as the development of important lifelong learning capabilities. It also intends to make it easier for young VIPs looking for work to connect with employers/HR managers. It will give employers/supported employment specialists access to information about hiring young VIPs.
The following products are being developed as part of the project:
- The “VIP Job Accessibility Toolbox,” which serves as a one-stop shop for all of our users from various target groups: It will include tools and resources for employers who want to learn about concepts like accessibility and inclusion in the workplace, as well as job agencies, youth workers, youth leaders, supported employment specialists, and career and school counsellors who work with young VIPs, and young VIPs themselves, who will be able to connect and share experiences with their peers, easing their transition into the workforce.
- The “VIP Job Podcast,” a 10-episode podcast in partner languages, will include a narrated version of our digital product user instructions – how to use them, what you can get out of them, how they will aid you in your job search, and so on.
- “VIP Job Video Pack”: will highlight the challenges faced by young VIPs in integrating into the job market, as well as their idealistic thoughts on a barrier-free workplace.
- The project has a overall duration of 24 months (1/02/2021 -31/01/2023).
The current project is funded by Erasmus + programme.
