Between 27 and 30 November, Patricia, our new ESC volunteer from Romania, has visited us in Liège for her advance planning visit.
Her time in Liège was full of activities and meetings that provided an introduction and prepared her for her imminent arrival. She visited our office, where we discussed about her background and expectations, our priorities and how she can best contribute to our daily activities. We then also visited La Baraka’s offices, where she will also participate on a weekly basis: together, we had a conversation with the director of La Baraka, who gave an overview of the activities and how she could volunteer for the organisation.
On this occasion, Patricia visited her future apartment in Liège where she met with the mobility instructor for her future mobility and orientation training, during which she familiarised with the important routes from her apartment, and with the French tutors, who introduced her to the tutoring sessions in French and assessed her language level.
But, of course, the visit was also an opportunity to discover the city for the first time: with Patricia and her accompanying person, Adriana, we walked through the centre, took pictures with Liège’s main landmarks and ate the most incredible burgers.
Now that all is set, we can’t wait to have Patricia with us!
