Young people with visual impairment from all over Europe met in Berlin to learn about project management and development. From 28 September to 6 October, the German Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted (DBSV) hosted a one-week training course for youth workers under the title “Dream it Do it!”. Its aim was to empower participants to develop ideas for youth exchanges into fully fledged projects. The Berlin event allowed the participants to hear lectures on project management and group dynamics, work on Erasmus+ project applications and join in interactive and intercultural group activities. Using the competences acquired at the seminar, multinational small groups developed their own particular project ideas, which will mostly take place next year. Thus a European network of collaborating facilitators of international youth relation projects has been established.
At the Berlin meeting, blind and partially sighted participants from nine European countries came together. DBSV welcomed representatives of partner organisations from Finland (Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired), Iceland (Blindrafélagið), Italy (UICI), Belgium (VIEWS International), France (GIAA), Georgia (Miriani), Romania (Pontes) and Spain (Ayuntamiento de Murcia). “Dream it Do it!” is funded through the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme and coordinated by DBSV and VIEWS International.
