First two weeks of October VIEWS International’s Executive Office started really productive. We had three occasions to present our organization and our work to young public. Two times we’ve visited the Jean Boets high school in Liege and also, we had a pleasure to participate at 200th anniversary of IRHOV (special school for the blind).

On 9th of October we’ve visited for first time the Jean Boets high school, a technical college in Liege. We had the chance to talk about visual impairment; types and challenges related to that. In the same time, Roxana and I (Kuba) could share our feelings and experience as people with visual impairment. Next, we also showed objects which helps in daily living people with visual impairments. Moreover, we presented some practical knowledge, so students prepared a dish in the dark; of course, after that, they had a chance to see what they did and later enjoy the meal. This activity was followed by trying adapted games for visually impaired persons: chess, puzzle, etc. in which students could enjoy some leisure time. The feedback was positive and that was a pleasure to work with these people.

On Saturday (12.10.2019) VIEWS took part at IRHOV’s 200th anniversary. There we had our stand where we presented VIEWS and explained some of our projects. For this event, we prepared a game where visitors could test their skills in walking with a white cane. As was anticipated at the event were more stands, where we could learn something new and meet people. Our stand was visited by a lot of persons and we spent a nice time with them, exchanged information and promoting future activities.

On Tuesday afternoon (15.10.2019) VIEWS team had a new appointment at Jean Boets high school. This time we met other group of teenagers. The visit was very similar to first one: we had the opportunity to present VIEWS and tell something about visual impairments but this day the meeting was a little shorter, as a result we finished after eating in the dark. However, the appointment was also really entertaining for students and for VIEWS members. We hope to visit this school again someday.

This is the way, how VIEWS team along with volunteers started a new month. We hope that this year there will be many more such occasions.
